Viral Video: Putin’s Humorous Gesture Wins Praise at Russia-Africa Summit

A video of Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken social media by storm, showcasing a lighthearted moment during the Russia-Africa summit in St Petersburg. In the video, Putin can be seen laughing and playfully instructing the Comoros President to remain seated after the latter accidentally took his seat before everyone else during an official meeting. The video has garnered much attention and praise for the Russian leader’s humour and affability.

The two-day Russia-Africa summit held in St Petersburg saw less participation from African leaders compared to its first edition in 2019. Despite this setback, Putin addressed the African leaders, assuring them of Russia’s commitment to preventing a global food crisis. He discussed Russia’s withdrawal from a deal allowing grain shipments from Ukraine and promised substantial no-cost grain shipments to six African nations in need.

In addition to addressing the food crisis concerns, Putin also addressed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. He expressed his government’s seriousness in analysing a peace proposal for Ukraine that African leaders have sought to pursue. Putin emphasised that Russia was attentively considering the African initiative and treating it with respect.

The viral video showcasing Putin’s friendly gesture and the efforts made by Russia to support African nations have earned positive recognition, reflecting the significance of the Russia-Africa summit in fostering diplomatic relations and addressing pressing global issues.
