NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud for announcing that the Supreme Court will soon be integrated with the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG). This technological advancement is expected to improve transparency and enhance the efficiency of the justice delivery system in India.
Chief Justice Chandrachud revealed that the Supreme Court will soon connect to the NJDG, which serves as a repository of data related to the backlog of cases and the rate of case disposals at various levels of the judicial system, from taluka (local) courts to the national level. As of now, the portal displays data only up to the high court level.
In his announcement, Chief Justice Chandrachud mentioned that the Supreme Court’s data will be uploaded to the NJDG in real-time, ensuring that the system remains up-to-date and accurate.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed this development and expressed his admiration for the Supreme Court’s decision and Chief Justice Chandrachud’s leadership. He described the move as a “laudatory step” that will significantly contribute to transparency and improve the overall justice delivery system in India.
