Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate five new train services connecting Delhi to the Kashmir Valley on January 6, marking a significant step in improving travel convenience and connectivity, according to reports.
The new trains, designed with modern amenities such as heating systems, aim to enhance passenger comfort during the harsh winter season, as highlighted by India TV. Railway officials have confirmed that these services will incorporate advanced technology to ensure seamless operations, even under extreme weather conditions like heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures often experienced in the region.
This marks the first time Indian Railways has introduced heating systems in coaches, specifically catering to the needs of passengers traveling through colder areas. The Railway Ministry is expected to release detailed information about the schedules, stops, and ticket booking processes for these new services soon.
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBL), a flagship project of Indian Railways, is set to play a pivotal role in connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
