SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in north Kashmir’s Uri town on Thursday claimed to have busted a militant module and arrested three militant associates.
As per the statement issued to media, Joint forces of JKP & Army’s 16 SIKHLI during joint patrolling and area domination at Churunda Uri noticed one suspected person who was roaming in the area, who tried to flee while noticing patrolling party was apprehended tactfully.

During his personal search 2 Grenades were recovered from him and he was taken into custody immediately who was later on identified as Showkat Ali Awan son of Abdul Karim Awan resident of Churunda – Uri.
During further questioning, he revealed the names of his accomplices Ahmad Din son of Shukur Din resident of Churunda Uri and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana son of Umer Din resident of Churunda who were questioned and upon their disclosure 2 Grenades, 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine and 4 live rounds were recovered from them.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accuseds are involved in cross border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT militants for carrying out terror activities.
Case under Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act was registered in Police Station Uri and investigations was taken up in the matter.
