On Saturday morning, an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The quake occurred approximately 126 km southeast (SE) of Port Blair and was reported at 12:53 am on Saturday.
The National Centre for Seismology reported that the earthquake had a depth of 69 km and its epicenter was located at 10.75 latitude and 93.47 longitude.

However, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake had a depth of 10 km and a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale, as reported by Reuters.
No casualties or major damages have been reported yet, but authorities and experts are closely monitoring the situation.
