BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday have arrested a shopkeeper for being involved in selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at Uri in Baramulla district.
As per the Police, the police party led by SHO Police Station (PS) Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali-JKPS arrested one shopkeeper identified as Altaf Ahmad Handoo son of Abdul Hamid Handoo resident of Uri, Baramulla for his involvement in illegally selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at his shop at Main Market Uri in District Baramulla.

Officers were able to recover 130 liters of Diesel and 40 liters of Petrol from his shop. He has been shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Uri and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members has hailed the efforts of police for their quick and vigilant action against such persons. Police has assured the community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.
