Home Ministry Keeps Close Watch as Three Bodies Found in Kathua: J&K LoP

Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sharma, has raised serious concerns over the rising crime incidents in the region, particularly referring to the recent recovery of three dead bodies in Kathua. He asserted that such crimes would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Speaking to IANS, Sharma stated that the Union Home Ministry has taken the matter seriously and assured people that security forces will act decisively against any terrorist activities.

“The Home Secretary and the Director of Intelligence Bureau (DIB) have been sent to the location. Crime incidents have been on the rise recently, and security agencies have been instructed to respond accordingly. We will not tolerate any criminal activities,” he said.

The victims, identified as Yogesh Singh, Darshan Singh, and Varun Singh, went missing on March 5 while on their way to a wedding in Lohai Malhar. Their bodies were discovered in Kathua’s Ishu Nallah on March 8, sparking widespread outrage in the area.

Following their disappearance, security forces launched an extensive search operation led by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). After an intense six-hour search, the bodies were found, raising suspicions of terrorist involvement.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh claimed that the victims were killed by terrorists and announced plans to construct a memorial in their honor.

Sharma reassured the public that ensuring their safety remains the top priority for security forces.

“The authorities have been briefed on the situation, including details of how the bodies were discovered. The Home Minister has assured me that swift action will be taken. Based on the investigation’s findings, strict measures will be implemented to counter any such threats,” he added.
