Assam police have arrested two individuals in connection with an arms training camp organised by the Bajrang Dal, where around 350 youths from the state received training.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bijoy Ghosh from Mangaldoi’s Ward number 4 and Gopal Boro hailing from Dimakusi. The arrests were made after a video allegedly showing Bajrang Dal members practising arms training at a school in Mangaldoi came to light, as reported by India Today.
Earlier on August 1, two more individuals, Hemanta Payeng, the president of the school’s managing committee, and Ratan Das, were arrested in relation to the case. However, they were later released on bail. Hemanta Payeng also filed an FIR claiming that one Abhijit Ghosh sought permission from him to organise a yoga camp at the school from July 27. Payeng stated that he came to know about the arms training camp only through media reports.

The police have issued a lookout notice for Abhijit Ghosh and Subrata Ghosh, who are believed to be connected to the camp.
The seven-day training camp took place in Mornoi village in Darrang District, 100 kilometres from the state capital Guwahati, and covered various aspects, including handling arms, martial arts, survival skills, quick thinking, politics, Vedic rituals, ideological orientation, and hand-to-hand combat. The trainees were aged between 18 and 30, and the camp was organised to counter the perceived security threat posed by alleged illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, led by Praveen Togadia, claims to have recruited 50,000 youths in Assam. The case has drawn attention and concern, and authorities are investigating the matter further.
