Farmers’ protest: Halting of ‘Dilli Chalo’ march follows tragic death In the aftermath of a protester’s death amid clashes with police at the Punjab-Haryana border, the farmers have decided to suspend the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march for a period of two days. Concurrently, they are set to convene a crucial meeting to deliberate on the future steps forward.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), leading the farmers’ protest at the Punjab-Haryana border, is set to convene its National Coordination Committee and General Body meeting on Thursday, aiming to deliberate on the situation and strategize for “decisive action to further the cause,” according to reports from news agency PTI.
Following alleged clashes resulting in a claimed protester’s death and injuries to 12 police personnel at Khanauri, one of the border points where farmers are encamped, the farmers decided to temporarily halt their ‘Dilli Chalo’ march for two days. However, the Haryana Police contradicted the claim, stating no fatalities occurred.
